Registration for Creativation University is open! Over the past several weeks, we’ve introduced you to some of our workshop teachers and seminar speakers so you can learn what to expect from taking their live classes in Phoenix this January.
This week, meet Michael Wayne!
Read our interview with Michael to learn more about him and what you can expect to learn by taking his two free* (for CHA members) Creativation University seminars – S219: Surprise and Delight: How to Building and Engage Audiences Across Social Platforms and S309: iDiscover: Making Their Way Home & Maker Space: What the Heck Is it?!
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m a native New Yorker who has been living in Los Angeles for the past 18 years. I’m married with two children: a boy who is 10 and a girl who is 8. I’ve been an entrepreneur since high school and founded three companies. I founded Kin Community in 2007 and it is now a global media and entertainment company. I love traveling (I lived in Prague for three years), basketball and cooking for friends and family.
What do you love most about your job?
Working with creative, passionate people and creating and developing compelling content brands.
What do you love most about the creative industry?
Developing new ideas and watching them come to life with a passionate team.
In a few words, tell us about the education session you’re teaching at Creativation.
The traditional media landscape is being disrupted in multiple ways and by multiple companies. Everyone with a mobile phone is now a global media company. I will explain how new business models are being born by content creators and the companies that serve them.
Who and why should someone attend your session?
Anyone interested in the future of media and entertainment and how that relates to the craft and hobby world. DIY content across social platforms is growing around the world. People will learn how to reach new audiences through these socially influential content creators.
What are you looking forward to the most at Creativation in Phoenix?
I’m looking forward to meeting people who are passionate about their business and want to explore new ways to connect with online audiences.
