To celebrate 75 years of creativity at the 2016 CHA MEGA Conference & Trade Show, we are profiling our members and sharing their stories of how they made their mark in the history of our industry.
Today, we are not featuring a member, but rather a CHA employee who many of you likely know by name. Meet Donna Cennimo, Operations Coordinator, who commemorated her 21st anniversary with CHA this past Sunday. A fun fact about Donna – she can name the CHA MEGA Show locations for every year she has worked here in order!
How long have you worked at CHA?
I started working at CHA in November 1994 – before there were sections on the CHA MEGA Show floor! The company was the Hobby Industry Association (HIA) at that time. My first role was an office assistant. I answered the phones and helped each team in any way that I could. There were no cubicles in the office back then. The open space created a great learning environment. With my colleagues all around, I was able to listen to their conversations and catch onto the job pretty quickly.
What’s the best thing about being part of the CHA community?
The people. We work in a great industry. I’m proud to be part of it.
2016 will be the first time you attend the CHA MEGA Show. What are you looking forward to the most?
There’s so much that I am looking forward to! It’s the Show’s 75th anniversary and its last year in Anaheim. I can’t wait to meet everyone who I’ve spoken to by phone and email over the years – putting a face to the name.
Also, I’m a crafter who represents all craft categories. I’ve crocheted, sewed, scrapbooked, painted, and made jewelry; more recently, I’ve been into art journaling. I’m excited to see the new products in person and come home with a ton of new project ideas!
What is your most memorable CHA moment?
Honestly, there are too many moments to list. A memory that comes to mind is one year when we were preparing a shipment for the Show. An 18-wheeler truck showed up, which is kind of funny if you’ve seen CHA’s parking lot. There was no way the truck was going to fit. So, the staff formed an assembly line to carry boxes and load the truck. The perfect word to describe this – teamwork!
Join Donna at the 2016 CHA MEGA Conference & Trade Show to have FUN and celebrate the latest craft industry products and innovations. Say hi and give her a high-five when you meet her!
