I love it when manufacturers and designers come together to create. The results are usually innovative and always interesting. Here is the latest news from Sizzix and the CHA Designers who created a blog hop! See the release below:
SIZZIX ARTISTS LAUNCH BLOG HOP
Beginning on Thursday, November 3 at noon EDT, the Triple Play Blog Hop will go live on the web. The blog hop is a coordinated effort by Eileen Hull, Brenda Pinnick and Karen Burniston, all licensed die artists, and supported by Sizzix, the manufacturer of dies and die cutting machines.
Each Thursday for seven consecutive weeks, sixty participating designers will post a project on their blog using the same featured die. The blog hop will originate on the Sizzix blog and viewers may then “hop” from blog to blog, where they will see sixty different versions of each die. Many of the Triple Play participating bloggers are members of the CHA Designer Section.
Blog hops are quickly growing in popularity as a marketing tool. Manufacturers sell product and designers benefit because it puts their blog in front of a new audience. In 2009, Eileen Hull’s line of Sizzix ScoreBoard dies launched. She decided to ask her fellow designers from the CHA Designer Section to help promote them. Hull states, “Nothing sells a product like a great design. I can’t think of a better way to showcase my dies than to have outstanding designers work with them showing their versatility and design possibilities.” After two solo blog hops, Hull reached out to fellow Sizzix artists Karen Burniston, engineer and pop-up die creator, and Brenda Pinnick, artist and color expert, to combine forces to coordinate a grand scale blog hop. They called on fellow designer Jen Goode, who helped by developing the webring navigation program enabling viewers to hop from blog to blog.
Each of the artists contributed their different talents to make the hop a reality. Pinnick designed the artwork and logo used to promote the hop, Burniston called on her technical knowledge to provide the blog hop process and Hull managed the yahoo group where the event information was disseminated.
The artists are pleased at the generosity of the design community in sharing their talent and in the enthusiasm that has been shown throughout the planning stages of the event. The participating designers stand to benefit by increased blog traffic, higher visibility in the crafting community and networking opportunities with their colleagues. Hull says, “It’s a win-win situation. Karen, Brenda and I are very grateful to all who are participating and look forward to seeing how our dies will be interpreted by these amazing designers!”
