Following the remarkable results and member feedback from the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) 2010 Summer Conference & Trade Show, CHA is pleased to announce the CHA 2011 Summer Conference & Trade Show will return to the Donald E. Stephens Convention and Conference Center in Rosemont, Illinois on Tuesday, July 19 – Thursday, July 21, 2011 with the Conference starting on Monday, July 18, 2011.

The total square footage for the 2010 Summer Show increased by almost 9% to 74,698 sq. ft. up from about 69,497 sq. ft., while number of exhibiting companies increased by 10% over the previous year. Seventy-nine or 31.6% of the 251 total exhibiting companies were new to the 2010 Summer Show.

The CHA 2010 Summer Show hosted 4,790 trade show attendees representing a 16.7% increase in the number of total attendees and a 38.5% increase in total buyers over the previous year. Buyers came from all 50 states with international attendance representing 11% of the total buyers.

Based on 2010 Summer Show Post-Show Attendee and Exhibitor Surveys 84% of exhibitors thought the quality of buyers was ‘Satisfactory’ to ‘Excellent’, 84% buyers thought the value from exhibitors was ‘Good’ to ‘Excellent’ with 84% placing orders based on what they saw at the Show.

“At CHA, we pride ourselves in our ability to listen to our members and develop meaningful trade shows and programs that contribute to our members’ success and growth in the industry,” explained Steve Berger, President and CEO, CHA. “After examining the success of the recent Summer Show and evaluating the results of the 2010 Summer Show Post-Show Attendee and Exhibitor Surveys, it becomes easy to see that our members and attendees overwhelmingly support, attend and exhibit at our Show in Rosemont.”

While the Summer Show will likely remain in Rosemont for the next few years it is also likely that CHA will move the Summer Show once every three to four years to keep it fresh and to keep negotiated rates as low as possible.

“It’s great to learn that CHA members and attendees want to come back in Rosemont,” explained Christopher R. Stephens, Executive Director, Donald E. Stephens Convention and Conference Center. “For more than 30 years Rosemont has hosted the annual CHA Summer Show creating a friendly and familiar venue for CHA and its members.  It’s rewarding to see that our long-term commitment to CHA is felt and reciprocated by CHA and its members.”

  1. I was wondering if the dates that are shown are correct that the CHA show would start on a tuesday? last year (2010) it was held during the week -end, which made it easier for me and my daughter to attend. Why did they change it? CHA may loose support due to the change in days….and I was looking forward to the show this year…

    • I’m thinking you might be confusing the CHA Summer Trade Show with the CHA Craft SuperShow. The CHA Summer Trade Show is an industry only trade show and that has been held Tuesday – Thursday (even last year.) The Craft SuperShow consumer event (open to the public) ran Friday and Saturday. If you are looking for more information about the Craft SuperShow Sections that will be held in Rosemont as part of the JF& A Show this Summer you should probably go to for dates and venues.

      Hope this helps.
