CHA announced a new series of CHA hosted social media microsites including the CHA Blog, Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn. See the complete press release for details below.
ELMWOOD PARK, NJ (December 7, 2009) – In efforts to reach both consumer crafters and the craft and hobby industry, the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) launched a major social media effort creating a presence on popular social sites including Facebook, Flickr, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube. CHA also created a CHA Blog dedicated to providing the latest CHA and craft and hobby industry news. CHA’s presence on these sites promises to not only serve as a platform for increased member communication but also as a tool to heighten awareness of issues impacting the craft and hobby industry in general.
The CHA Blog, https://craftandhobby.wordpress.com, is a real-time source of Association and industry information. Contributors will include CHA executive staff and managers. The CHA’s members-only LinkedIn group allows participants to share ideas, find others with common interests, and otherwise network. CHA’s Flickr and YouTube accounts, www.flickr.com/photos/cha_images and www.youtube.com/user/CraftandHobby, will include free images and videos from CHA Shows and other craft-related events and interviews. Twitter, www.twitter.com/craftandhobby, will be used to communicate CHA news and updates, while Facebook, www.facebook.com/CraftSuperShow and www.CraftPlace.org will serve as the primary tools to communicate with consumers about craft projects and the CHA Craft SuperShow consumer event.
“Social media is more than a fad; it’s a fundamental shift in how we communicate with our members and the world,” said Steve Berger, president and CEO, CHA. “We are confident that the more platforms we provide for our members, crafters, and the industry to share information, network and build relationships, the more relevant feedback we can generate in order to build a stronger craft industry.”
